SPRINGTIME GOODIES

Along with SPRING comes thoughts of Easter, weddings, gardening, upcoming graduations and so many other wonderful things...

I came across some of my old pictures a little while back and thought these would make wonderful springtime gifts...different from the standard Easter basket, yes...but wouldn't the kiddies just love one of these CANDY BOUQUETS...

...hand-made with yummy, delicious lollipops, candy bars, M& M's, and all kinds of other treats in a sundae glass and decorated with a colorful bow...now who could resist something this cute....and TASTY...

...they make fantastic BIRTHDAY and GRADUATION gifts too...these were made in plastic sundae glasses using nothing more than assorted candy, wooden skewers, toothpicks, scotch tape, colorful bow and celephane/tissue paper rosettes for filler...they are so EASY and FUN to make...oh, you will also need a 3 inch styrofoam ball cut in half...I have given MANY of these little cuties as gifts...

Now for the MAN in your life...how about a MAN SIZED snack bouquet...I made this one for my husband's birthday a few years back.....he LOVED it!!!

...Easter basket recipient not a kid anymore?...maybe they would like a GARDENER'S Easter basket instead...

...chocked full of just about everything they need to grow their very own flower bouquet...find a little flower pot, add some easter grass, seed packet, set of garden tools, gardening gloves...viola' (you could fill the bottom with potting soil first, then add the Easter grass)...just a thought!

...maybe the winds of spring has brought about a wedding to your family...how about giving the honeymooners a beautiful wedding basket like this...

...this basket contains champayne, champayne flutes, candles, chocolates, snack cakes and a picture frame for the the happy couple's wedding picture...and the pretty white wicker basket (which was spray painted) is all decket out in the prettiest white roses...what couple do you know who wouldn't like this?....

...well that's it for this little SPRINGTIME GOODIES post....so have a HAPPY SPRING y'all!!!

I am linking to a sweet little spring time party over at Holiday Haven...won't you join me...

FIRST EVER TABLESCAPE...ON THE CHEAP

Okay I must come CLEAN...this is my first ever tablescape...oh sure, I have set a nice table for holidays and plenty of parties...some using of my good dishes and others using PAPER and PLASTIC dinnerware...besides my Royal Duchess china I got from an auction years ago and my everyday good ol' CORRELL from Wal-Mart, I just don't own very many dishes....oh I know what you are thinking....for SHAME...however I have been picking up a few things here and there at thrift stores because I saw some of y'alls tablescapes and I have been dying to play along...

...I was wanting my first published tablescape to be a setting for two on the porch on a warm sunny spring day using my "Royal Duchess" china; however, Mr. Spring has disappeared and ol' Mr. Winter is back in town...and I just had the need to PLAY...

...so I put together this little Blue and White tablescape...INDOORS...using some things I've been picking up here and there at various little thrift shops...Although I only have four place settings and there are a few mismatched pieces, I think she turned out pretty good.....you know for an AMATEUR and a tablescape on the CHEAP...

...much to my SURPRISE, I discovered that most of the shots of this table were taken during the 'BLUE HOUR'...now isn't that fitting for a BLUE and white table...(did you know that there are actually two blue hours everyday, yes that's right...one at dawn and the other at dusk)...

...I will do a breakdown later of just what is on this table and how much this little tablescape set me back but for now I'll just be quiet and show you some pictures...

...everything on this table cost me a whopping $11.25...now that's cheap!...

---Pottery Barn "Emma" (I used the dinner plates as chargers)...got almost a whole 4 piece place setting (minus the cereals bowls and two mugs) for $3.50 (these retail for $159.00)....SCORE
---Baum Bros. "Bernadotte" dinner plates...got all four for $1.00
---No name salad plates...got all four for .40
---flatware, my everyday, nothing special flatware...$0
---blue rose tablecloth (fabric remnant) $2.00 thrift store find
---4 white linen napkins $1.00 for all
---4 vintage silver napkin rings $1.00 for all
---centerpiece arrangement $1.00 (LED candles from the dollar store on clearance .30 each)
---cakeplate .50
---tart tins (whole ziploc bag full) .25

...as I wasn't finished playing yet, I decided to change up this little tablescape by adding a few bits of yellow to it...I tucked a little sunflower into each of the napkins rings and changed out the centerpiece with some forsythia...and added a couple bird candleholders...

....so anywayyyyyy, there you have it...my FIRST EVER tablescape...yes I know not like all you girls' out there in blogland....but I like it and I had FUN....that's what's important!!!!
