A DASH OF FALL HERE...A DASH OF FALL THERE

Hello, how are all of you on this fine fall morning?  I am FANTASTIC...the slightly cooler weather just makes me GIDDY...I feel so ENERGIZED...How about you?...While I am not looking forward to WINTER, I do ENJOY fall soooo very much...pumpkins and mums are popping up everywhere and soon the trees will be putting on their show of glorious fall color..in the meantime, I have been busy adding little touches of fall splendor to my home...a dash of fall HERE...

...A dash of fall THERE...

...here a little and there a little...

These are simple vignettes I put together using mostly the things I already had...I did buy a few leafy floral picks from Dollar Tree and the faux pheasant feather pick came from Micheals clearance bin for .99 cents...I love it!

I got the wild animal runner and rooster lamp a few months back on clearance at Dollar General...they were half off.  I paid $2.50 for the runner and $3.50 for the lamp...the rusty little urn was from a thrift shop several months back for .25 cents...I wasn't sure what I would use it for but I just had to have it and now I think it goes perfect with this fall vignette...

I got the large acorn tart burner last year from Wal-Mart for $15.00...it's made by BH&G and I love it....much cheaper than Scentsy! (less than half price)...Wal-Mart also carries BH&G scents for just $2.00 a package (also less than half price of Scentsy)...they have a lot of great scents to choose from...right now I am burning a new seasonal fragrance...CRANBERRY CHUTNEY...It smells sooooo wonderful...

I will put in a plug for Scentsy also...I won the new October fragrance at a party last week and it is TO.DIE.FOR...It's called "Autumn Stroll" it's a very subtle, very romantic perfumed spice fragrance...I have been burning it at work...I love it too!!!

...I have more fall FLUFFING to do...I have yet to finish FALL-I-TIZING the living room and I am still working on the mantle...BUT I will be back soon to share those with you...until then, ENJOY this beautiful fall day and treat yourself to something fall-i-cious like "Cranberry Chutney" OR "Autumn Stroll"...you deserve it...

SNEAK PEEK...

A few weeks ago I posted about a master bedroom redo and asked what you all thought mahogany furniture, cream walls and my white duvet set would be like mixed with some leopard print....you can see that post HERE...

For such a LONG time my master bedroom has felt as if it were NOT a part of the house...it just didn't flow...it didn't work and it was literally making me SICK...I was completely depressed just THINKING about this room...soooo, I just COULDN'T wait any longer to get started on a TRANSFORMATIONand this is just a little SNEAK PEEK at for you to enjoy...

...I started with a nice fresh coat of paint...Desert Nomadic Plains by Glidden (eggshell/satin sheen) which was a return at WM...I got 2 gallons at half price...$14.95 a gallon...I couldn't have picked a better color if I had chosen it myself...It is the perfect CREAM for my room...this paint made the biggest impact and overall change...I instantly fell in love with it...and it was soooooo much better than the before...

I don't have very many pics of the before...but the next few pics will give you sort of an idea of how pathetic this room has been...first off, I wasn't entirely finished decorating it before I realized that none of it was working for me...hence the bare walls...

I guess I am just not the tea and roses kind of gal after all...

...although there is still a LONG laundry list of things left to do (as you can see), I am really liking it so far...It's more my taste and style now and it flows much better with the rest of the house...

I hope to get the the doors and windows painted soon and I am looking at installing a DRUM SHADE instead of a chandy for my overhead light...which kind of goes more with the modern feel the room is taking on.

I am also in the process of making the drapes which shouldn't take long at all.  I will tell you all about those when I show you the PREMIER DEBUT when everything is done.

IT'S OFFICIAL

Well it's OFFICIAL...fall is finally here...I thinks it's here to stay too...our weather has certainly been cooler and more rainy than it usually is in September...most years our fall weather doesn't start until early to mid October ...how's the weather been where you live?

Anyway, I'm really glad fall is here...I have finally started my fall decorating and it is going well...I'm almost finished and I hope to have pictures ready for you by Monday...and (as if you haven't noticed)...I have FALL-I-TIZED my blog a little too...

Today, I have a little thrifty fall find to share with you...

Aren't the colors just wonderful....and look at all it's rustic goodness...it just SCREAMS fall...

I had been looking for a large piece of art for my fall mantle...I stumbled upon this at a local thrift store the other day...it was only $2.00...it's a little more rustic than what I had envisioned, as I am kind of going for a more refined look, but I think it will work just fine...

I'm linking up to Thrifty Things Friday party over at the Thrifty Groove...pop on over and see what everyone is up to.

Have a fabulous day!!!

BLUE NO MORE

Happy Monday y'all...Hope you had a wonderful weekend...ours here in Missouri was COOL and RAINY...typical fall weather...I think the cooler temps and rain has started a little EARLY this year but that has not detoured me from getting a few things done around the house...

You might remember how I posted a while back about gearing up to paint the house exterior...well, I didn't get that done (we are going to have a hire a professional after all for that)...BUT I did get one job done...THE DOOR IS BLUE NO MORE...

still needs one more coat, but it's gotta stop raining first
...now it is a BRIGHT, SHINY, WELCOMING RED...and just in time for fall...don't you just love it?  I do!!!

a little peak at the BEFORE...

...well, sort of...I forgot to take a pic BEFORE I started sanding...I HATE when I do that!  I am always forgetting my before shots...I guess I just get in too much of a HURRY to get things done...

...notice what color it was before it was blue?...Yes, that's right, it was...RED...I guess at one time this old house had a classic red door thingy going on...did you also notice the pediment (architectural detailing) around the door...isn't it just absolutely GORGEOUS?..just one of the many things about this old house I fell in LOVE with...

What a HUGE improvement!!!

I'm joining these linky parties.  I would love it if you would stop by each of these fabulous parties and see what everyone's up to.

NOTE:  I was asked by an anonymous commenter for the brand and color I chose for this door.  I was going to include those details when publishing this post but my mind drew a blank so I left it out.  However, for all of you who are interested, it is Apple-a-Day by Olympic Paints in semi-gloss.  I got it at Lowe's.  It does look pinkish in color in the can and when applying it, but it does dry a nice deep red.

AUTUMN INSPIRATION...

Although I have determined that I am not doing any of my own decorating for fall until the day fall OFFICIALLY begins, I can THINK fall and that's exactly what I've been doing...I have gone back through some of my inspiration files and found some FABULOUS ideas for fall I wanted to share with you...

...there's lots of EYE CANDY here...so I will keep my commenting to a minimum and let you enjoy...

Roos go so well with fall, don't ya think?...

...dining alfresco...sitting on haybales...perhaps a nice bonfire to warm the night air...sounds blissful!!!

...how 'bout canning some CANDY CORN and candles...

Love this very elegant tablescape using white and gold pumpkins and gourds...

...what a great idea....I love using food to serve food......and now for my FAVORITE fall idea this year....and one I WILL be doing...

Cider anyone?....

Most of these photos came from places like bhg.com but I believe there are a few from other blogs...however, I can't give them credit for their work because I don't remember where they came from...most of them I scalped before I started a blog of my own...If you see one of your photos here, please let me know and I will either take it off at your request or give you credit for your work...THANKS~
