MERRY CHRISTMAS!...

Today's Christmas Eve...my (Santa's) BUSIEST day.  The day that I (Santa) will probably not even see the bed again until WAAAY after midnight.

There's cookies and candies to make and presents to wrap...and that's not all...there's a full size set of drums to put together for the bubs...a present I think the hubs and I are going to REGRET, hehehe....shhhh, mums the word!  I foresee that I will be purchasing some really good ear plugs in the near future.

Luckily I get off work early today so I will have a few extra hours to finish everything up....COME ON NOON!

Before I sign off for the holidays though I wanted to give you a little looksy at my new pencil tree in the dining room as promised...

I have been wanting one of these for a few years now but they are pretty pricey.  I grabbed this one from Wal-mart when I spotted it because they were cheaper than anywhere else.  I could have gotten 30% off if I would have waited until 6 a.m.the next morning...black Friday...to get it but this was the only one they had left on the shelf and I was afraid it would be gone if I waited those few extra hours so, I went ahead and paid full price.  That's okay though because it will last for many years.

It's pre-lit so it's really easy to put up but what I like most is that it can fit into any corner without having to rearrange a bunch of furniture. It's the perfect fit for any room in the house.

This year it is decorated in the traditional Christmas greens and reds and topped with a glittery red snowman hat. So cute!

One last thing before I go...I want to share with you my sentiments for this holiday season via chalkboard correspondence...

A little girl...huh, huh...SIS snuck in without me realizing it and wrote the love you at the bottom.  I didn't even see it until after snapping the shot. So I guess this says just a little more than MERRY CHRISTMAS...oops!

Anyway, HAVE A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS!

IS CHRISTMAS REALLY HERE?....

Wow, it's Christmastime already! I can hardly believe it. The year has flown by and Christmas is just a little more than a week away. My oh my where has the time gone? I still have sooooooo much to do that I don't know if I am going to make the deadline this year. Can anyone say LAST MINUTE SHOPPING! Haha...

Thankfully though I did finally manage to get the decorating done. Well, I'm calling it done anyway. I started right after Thanksgiving but there has seemed to be all kinds of delays and set backs this year so I didn't get quite as much accomplished as I had hoped. I did manage to get a tree up. We got a fresh Douglas Fir from Lowes and I got the mantel done...finally!

I put a small fake tree up in the dining room also and perhaps I will post a few snippits of that one later this week...hint, I bought a new pencil tree that fits in the corner perfectly...I love it and can't wait to share it with you.  For today though, and because the dining room is a hot mess right now, let's take a look at the mantel and tree in the living room.

The inspiration for the decorations this year in the living room was this gorgeous wintry picture I found at the thrift store for $3 several months back....

As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted it as the centerpiece for my Christmas mantel this year.

I had in mind that I wanted to create a little wintry Christmas village on top the mantel to mimic the scene in the picture. I lucked into finding several plain, unpainted Christmas village houses and buildings at the thrift store a couple weeks ago for just 50 cents each. The bubs helped me paint them all up. We really enjoyed working on these together...

They're not perfect but I think we did a pretty good job, don't you?

I nestled our little Christmas village in a bed of "snow", added some twinkle lights, fresh greenery, and surrounded it by a forest of lovely white wintry Christmas trees...

The two larger trees are made from plain white poster board that I shaped into cones. I wrapped the largest of the two in a cute winter neck scarf that I already had. There was no sewing or gluing involved. I simply wrapped the scarf around and around until I had the cone covered. I tucked the leftover part of the scarf into the bottom of the cone.  Really simple but I think gorgeous and adds tons of texture to the scene.

The smaller tree was made by wrapping a couple white feather boas that I found at Dollar Tree around the paper cone.  I did have to use double sided tape to get these to stay put but it was super easy and I love how it turned out.

For good measure I tucked in my crystal "ice" tree trio to balance everything out.

I wanted the tree to be decked in similar color and style as the mantel so instead of the usual classic red and green I went with whites and silvers with LOTS of snowflakes for a real WINTRY effect.

It probably could have used some more white and silver balls for a little more fill and fluff but it's still pretty even if the bad little angel tree topper won't stand up right (shown in the picture below), and as long as it has presents beneath it come Christmas morning it will still be just as magical for the kids.

Add a little fire and the whole living room looks Christmasy and Cozy...

Of course the new faux cow hide doesn't hurt anything either, does it?

Well, I guess this all means that Christmas really is here.  Man does time fly! I guess I better hurry up and finish up the shopping, the baking and so on, and on and on because the jolly red fat man is gonna be here in no time expecting his milk and cookies. Hahaha.

See ya soon.
