MY QUESTION ANSWERED...

Have you all ever heard of C.B.I.D Home Decor and Design.  If you haven't, you must check it out.  It is a color consulting, home decorating, and design arts blog that offers FREE professional online design advice to the design challenged....or even to those who are just a little stumped in some particular area, such as myself as of late.

I have been completely frustrated over choosing paint colors for my living room and dining room.  Normally I do not have trouble in this area, but then again we have pretty much always had an open concept home.  You can pretty much throw up any paint color you want in a large open, naturally lit space and it's gonna look great.  Not so much though in a home with small west facing rooms that receive little natural light.

I have had multiple paint swatches stuck to the walls for over a year.  I have bought a few samples and painted poster board sized swatches and hung them on the walls too.  Truly, I have had a major headache over trying to choose a paint color that is fresh, clean, modern, light and bright enough for these rooms.   I truly have been at the point of just surrendering and painting EVERY.LITTLE.THING WHITE.  Enough already, right!!  Okay, I admit I needed help!

A month or so ago I stumbled across C.B.I.D. and I am so glad I did.  I took the chance to send a few photos of my problem rooms and ask for some color consultation.  I wasn't sure if I would get an answer but took the chance anyway.  The answer came today.  Yahoooooo.

I am totally thrilled with the suggestions and advice I received.  She posted my photos and question and then suggested some very nice paint colors.  She also attached photos of beautiful rooms sporting the suggested colors so that I could see what the color looks like in an actual room.  You can check out her post and her suggestions to me HERE.  I know you are just going to love C.B.I.D. and if the truth be known, you might even find yourself asking for some advice of your own.

I will hopefully be picking up some samples of her suggestions this weekend to see if one of the choices will finally put an end to my frustration.

Wish me luck!

THE ALMOST BLACK BATH...

Hay y'all.  How's it going?  Did you have a good Easter?  Mine was terrific.  I couldn't have asked for a better day.  We had an incredible time of preaching and fellowship at church.  The kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt; not to mention, it was sunny and gorgeous.  Easter in Central Missouri is usually rainy and dreary but not this year.  Thank the good Lord.  We actually got to enjoy spending the evening out on the screened porch.  Heaven, I tell you.  Simply heaven!  Wish you all could have been there to enjoy it with us.

Last week I asked you all a question as to whether or not you would be willing to paint the smallest room in your house black (or almost black)?...I then shared with you my inspiration pic for my upstairs bath...

What a gorgeous room, huh?  I stated that my bath could be pretty much a look-a-like, despite the fact that my window is on the opposite side as the pic above.  A BOLD statement I know!  Anyway, I did get my bath painted over the weekend and boy was it a chore.  You would think such a small room would be easy...NOT.   Working in such a tiny space was truly hard.  I felt like I needed to be a contortionist to get into all those little teeny tiny areas behind the toilet and sink. LOL.

I used the same color paint as my inspiration pic...Rugged Suede by Valspar.  A nice rich, warm dark gray.

So as promised....here is my look-a-like (sort of) bath...

I have a few finishing touches yet to do, but I absolutely love it.  I will be honest, the thought of painting such a small room this dark a color was a little SCEEEEERY.  While it looked so great in someone else's house, I was unsure if it would look as good in mine.  I know I am such the skeptic...but can I just say I would do it again in a heartbeat.  This bathroom went from the most hideous room in the house...

to probably the most gorgeous.  Seriously!

It is so sophisticated and chic now.  I can't wait to get it finished and show you the whole thing.

This redo was very inexpensive too.  I already had the black and white shower curtain and the white paint on hand so that was all FREE.  I only needed a quart of the Rugged Suede which was $15.  I replaced the globes on the lights with these cute white linen lamp shades from Lowes because one of the original glass globes got broke a few months ago.  The shades were only $5 each and were the perfect fit.  I also bought a few pieces of trim (that have not been installed yet) totaling $10.  I had to purchase a few painting supplies which was under $10.   I will be purchasing new hardware for the linen closet later which will be a little costly (approx.$30) but the total for everything so far is around $45.  Can't beat that especially since this room looks like a million bucks.

So what do you think, do you like it?  Have you ever painted a room in your home black? Would you?  Do tell, I'm all ears!
