Happy Day to you my friends! How was your weekend? Mine was TERRIFIC!
I got to see my beautiful little girl graduate from high school Saturday evening. I have to admit that I cried. Yes, I shed real tears as she accepted her diploma. Tears of joy, of course! It was such an exciting and proud moment! I am so elated for her and so very anxious and excited to see the next chapter of her life as it unfolds...she is a wonderful person and I know that she is going to accomplish greater things than this in life.
And now I am going to do what every mother does when their babies do good things...BRAG. I want to share some pictures of this iconic moment (the first of many) with you...
Just before the ceremony all decked out in her cap and gown. She also wore her honor cord from graduating the Certified Nursing Assistant course.
Okay, the faculty and students are in their places, now...Let's get this party started!
Awards were given then names were called one by one. Here's sis waiting patiently for her turn to be called...
It seemed like we waited forever considering our last name begins with R...but her turned FINALLY arrived....
Yay, that's my girl accepting her diploma...Oh how my tears of joy flowed. Can you tell I am a proud mommy. It's so hard to believe she's all grown up. It seems as if it was just yesterday I put her on the school bus for the first time. Guess what? I cried then too! I guess I am just a crier. I can't help it. It's an incurable disease...
Before we knew it...It was over...tassels were turned and caps were flying. What a fabulous night!
Of course we had to take a few post graduation pictures with some friends...
These two military men (well at least one of them, the one in blue) came just to see Sis graduate. He's her cousin. The other is one of his best friends. They graduated Cuba High together a few years back. We are so very proud of both of them and it was an honor to have them here for Sis's special day.
Last but not least (and as much as I hate my picture being taken) I couldn't pass up this proud parent opportunity for daddy and I to get a picture with our beautiful graduate...
I can only imagine what she will achieve next!

I FINALLY FOUND HIM...
Happy Thursday all!
Yay, I am sooooo excited! I FINALLY found the huge white rooster I was wanting for the dining room.
I have been looking for months. I used to see large white roosters around quite a bit at flea markets and stuff but when I decided that I WANTED/NEEDED one, they were no where to be seen. That ever happen to you? Yeah, it does me ALL.THE.TIME. I had even thought of buying just a plain large rooster and spray painting him white, but I couldn't find any that would work. Until yesterday...
I had to run home during my lunch break to get my cell phone. I have a horrible habit of leaving my phone at home...You? Well, yesterday I didn't forget my phone. I had put a phone in my purse when I left the house...only it wasn't mine. Yep, I put sis's phone in my purse and drove off to work with it. So I ran home at lunch to exchange phones.
On the way, I decided to stop at a little shop in Cuba that I don't get to very often because it's usually closed when I have the chance to shop. As I crossed the threshold this gorgeous...HUGE...white rooster was staring back at me. I snatched him up so fast I thought I saw his head spin. Hehe. I didn't even look at the price tag...which if you know me, you know that's the first thing I always look at!...BUT price didn't matter because after searching this long, I knew he WOULD be coming home with me! He was a little more than I wanted to spend, well because free is the best price, but I didn't think $30 was bad considering his size...
Isn't he a beaut? I haven't had a chance to play around with him yet to find out where I will like him best but as soon as I do, I will be back with more pics...prettier pics!
Until then, have a GREAT day!

MUMS IN SPRING?...
Top of the morning to ya!
I mentioned last week that I was wanting to plant some mums down the front walk. Well I got those Mums planted over the weekend...
What, Mums in spring? Are you scratching your heads wondering why in the world I would be planting Mums in the spring? After all Mums are fall flowers, right?
Yes they are! Interestingly enough though, young tender Mums should be planted in the spring so they will have time to become established and mature into big bushy balls of flowers by time fall comes around. So you might say I am planning ahead. I want a nice display of mums and pumpkins this fall. Besides, they are CHEAPER right now. (In the fall I will be planting Tulips and Hyacinth, what?) They will come up next spring.
Anyway, in our planting zone (5) Mums are perennials. As long as we don't have too rough of a winter, they will come back and get bigger and better with each passing year. Plus they can be divided every two or three years. I love that! More Mums for me...or you...as I might be willing to share, if you're nice.
Anyway, I planted them and then I PRAYED for them (because well, I don't have much of a green thumb).
They look like brave little soldiers all in a row...
The purple variety is my all time favorite...can you tell?
I also picked up a few coral colored Geraniums to go in some cute little pots I picked up at Menards over the weekend.
They are in the perfect spot perched on top some old cedar stumps flanking either side of the walk.
Though they look hot pink here, they are a beautiful soft coral and I just love them. Once again, I PRAY they do well!
I had hoped to get started on that horrible looking front bed I showed you last week but...I was too busy playing in the flowers and lost track of time. This weekend is a bust because of a family bbq but I hope to get around to it soon. Then I can officially say that the front yard is DONE...well, at least until fall.
Have a lovely day!

SWEET INDULGENCES...
Hello groupies...hahaha, just kidding. Hello all, how is everyone this fine Tuesday morning? I'm GREAT! The weather here is absolutely gorgeous! How is it in your neck of the woods?
Today I wanted to share with you something I made for the church's booth at the Women's Expo that First Community National Bank is hosting tonight. The theme this year is "Sweet Indulgence" and it's all about candy.
Our church will be selling all kinds of goodies there, including these oh so cute candy bouquets that I made up...
With Mother's Day coming up this weekend and graduation just around the corner these are sure to be a hit and, at only $10.00 each, will go FAST!!!
I also made up a few soda pop candy bouquets especially for the kiddos...$5.00 ea.
Now aren't those CUTE?!!!
If you are reading this today and would like to purchase one of these bouquets, stop by the expo at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Hwy. UU, Cuba, MO between the hours of 4-8 p.m. Look for the A.C.T.S. booth.
If you would like one and cannot make it to the expo, I will be taking orders for custom made candy bouquets. They are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays or any time. Everyone LOVES candy! They can be custom made in any size to include favorite candies, colors or theme. To place an order, please email your name and phone number to me at srodgers1969 at yahoo dot com. Orders can be processed and ready for pickup within 24 hours.
All proceeds will go to the youth division and building funds of A.C.T.S. church until 12/31/2014.

Card reads...You're UDDERLY fabmoolous! Yes, I made that up. Hehe |
This was made in a vintage Ironstone creamer of course that tag reads... You're the CREAM of the crop! |
Sorry, I did not realize this one was facing the wrong way until after I took all the pictures. That is a FUN DIP in the center and the front side is WAY cuter! |
This one is made in a plastic strawberry pint and is made with fruit flavored candies. |

A LITTLE SITTING AREA IN THE MASTER BEDROOM...
Happy end of the week to everyone! Yay, I'm so glad it's Friday, aren't you?
Today is a happy day for me. I get to see my little girl receive her Certified Nurses Aid certificate that she has worked so hard for this year at a little ceremony in Rolla tonight. She hasn't even graduated high school yet (that's in two weeks! My oh my, where has the time gone?) and she is already a certified nurses aid. I am so very, very proud of her! Sorry, can't help but brag a little. That's a momma's job you know!
Anyway, let's move on to something that's not nearly as important as my girl growing up...a pretty little sitting area in the master bedroom.
As you know, earlier this week on a night that was too chilly to work outside, I got out an old vintage tablecloth and made a slipcover for an old accent chair that needed updating. It only took about an hour and though my sewing job is NOT perfect, it turned out so beautiful. I showed you a little snippet of it the other day but I ran out of enough daylight to get any good pictures. So I'm back today, as promised, with a good look at it...(Well, I can't say the pictures are very good as I am no photographer and I still didn't have very good light as we have had some very dreary days here in Missouri this week, but it is what it is)...
Looks pretty good, doesn't it. I think the ruffle if my favorite part...or it could be the barely there pattern in the fabric. Not sure, I simply love the whole thing. It's gorgeous and the fit, perfect!
Now if you know me, you know I couldn't just slide the chair back into the corner of the room without adding a little something something to pretty it up even more, so I made a little sitting area...
I got out a little brass table that I have had for years from the attic (because brass is all the rage again) and in the spirit of springtime, topped it with a vase of freshly harvested bridal wreath spirea and lovely bird figurines. Of course I added a few books just because no sitting area is complete without a little reading material. For grins I stole one of the leopard print pillows off the sofa just to see how a little leopard might look in here. Lovely, don't you think?
Unfortunately the leopard had to make his way back to the sofa so I replaced him with a portrait of the kids for now...
at least until I can find (or make) a new throw pillow to go here. I'm thinking something in the coral color for summer.
So, what do you think about my new slipcover and my little sitting area? Do you like? That corner sure looks a LOT better than it used to, doesn't it?
What a transformation!!! Somehow I don't think this will be the last slipcover I make around here. Hahaha.
Have a fabulous, relaxing and beautiful springtime weekend!!!!! Ciao.
